The Quetzal's Trail

Hiking through the Quetzals trail is a wonderful experience as nature surrounds you with its green background, the sound of birds, and the caldera river.

This trail is located inside of the Baru Volcano National Park around the foothills of Baru Volcano between Boquete and Cerro Punta. This trail could be done from Boquete to Cerro Punta or getting halfway up to the camping area which is called Mirador la Roca with an altitude about 2300 meters, returning to the place where the hiking began either from Boquete or from Cerro Punta. This hike takes about 5 to 6 hours, and it has a distance of 10 km and the altitude from the ranger station of Boquete 1800 m.a.s.l. and Cerro Punta is 2500 meters.

LOCATION: Boquete’s cloud forest.

SKILL LEVEL: Beginner to expert

FITNESS: Proper training no previous experience required. Hiking this trail, short sections of the trail are quite strenuous.

NOTE: During the rainy season, this trail can be quite slippery in places.
