DAY 1 – PANAMA CITY


Our adventure to discover the Gran Darién begins with the journey from Panama City to Metetí at 08:00 am; during four-hour of driving we will see different landscapes of nature, then we will get lunch at noon in a Local Restaurant (Panamanian-style food). We continue the tour until reached Metetí at 15:00 at our hotel. We do check-in and we will meet you in an hour in the lobby because the guides will give you a briefing about the adventure that will see the following days. This includes checking our backpacks, to verify what we will carry in them, strictly what is necessary, so that we do not carry extra weight and we have the appropriate clothing for the following days.
After two hours, at 6:00 p.m. we will have the Welcome Dinner.

DAY 2- Quimba/Garachine.

Departure time at 5:00 a.m. getting breakfast at 06:00 am. Approximately in 45 minutes, it will be our departure to Puerto Quimba; one of the most used transit ports in the province of Darién for water transportation. We will Arrive at 07:20 am at Puerto Quimba, in ten minutes we will get ready to start our aquatic journey to the community of Garachiné, the journey will take us two hours. During the journey we will enjoy one of the richest ecosystem sites in the world, with a lucky day we will be able to spot dolphins and other species crossing the Gulf of San Miguel first seen by Europeans in 1513.
At 09:00 a.m. approximately we will arrive at the Garachine community mixed between Indigenous, African and European, this is a place of fishermen and farmers. Next, we will go to make our Registration at the SENAFRONT Police Station (National Police Service of Borders). Continuing with our activities at 10:00 am we will travel in 4×4 vehicles which will take an hour to reach Calle Larga. At noon we continue the walk to the Emberá community of Cerro Nipe for about an hour and a half and we will have lunch at 1:30 pm. We will eat lunch and get ready at 2:15 pm for the first 4 to 5 hours of hiking through the trails of Our Natural Wonder, the Darien National Park, used by the Emberá indigenous for farming and hunting and that have been used for generations to move from one community to another.
As soon as we arrive camping area at 18:15 our guides will prepare the campsite, we will have dinner in the jungle and sleep in hammocks designed for camping in this type of forest. Our equipment is light hammocks, with mosquito nets and roofs included. Around 8:00 p.m. we will sleep for our next adventure.

DAY 3 – Taguales-Parque Nacional Darién.


We start at 06:00 a.m. we Pick up the Hammocks and equipment and continue at 07:00 am, we will get breakfast and hear the instructions for the next 12 hours of walking: We will get lunch at noon and filter water; While the guides will choose a place to prepare something to eat in the jungle and rest. Rest is very important to continue with the goal of the day. Look!!! 43 times we will cross the rivers and streams to take us to hike around Darien National Park
About five hours exactly at 5:00 p.m. we will arrive at the beautiful community of Playa Muerto, located on the South Pacific Coast of Panama. After a long day of walking, we prepared a delicious dinner at 18:00. At the end of this third day at 20:00, we will have a conversation with the Elder Emberas indigenous about their experience, traditions, and culture.

DAY 4 – Emberá, Playa Muerto / Cultural Day.


We start the day at 08:00 am having breakfast, and next at 09:00 a.m. starting the tour around the community and appreciate the entertainment sites of this place. Our next stop will be at 09:30 am at the Mirador where we will appreciate the exuberant beauty and stunning views.
Then at 10:30 am we will visit the beach to enjoy its warm waters, half an hour later at exactly 11:00 am we will go to the stream to enjoy it.
And at noon we will taste a delicious lunch, a couple of minutes later we will take a one-hour nap; We continue with our activities at 14:00 so that this day is productive and of cultural experience, we will be able to Tattoos with jagua (temporal tattoos) and we will learn more about the Emberá culture and especially about this painting that has been used for generations for special occasions, for camouflage, for sunscreen, natural repellent and much more. At 4:00 p.m. We will get an explanation and we will learn about the arts and sale of their handicrafts and culture, where all families at sunset will share their handicrafts made by hands by women and men both together, a technique that has been preserved from generation to generation.
Continuing with the activities at 17:00 we will attend the Emberá Style cultural celebration at the end we will have dinner at 19:00; We will enjoy it and then at 8:00 p.m. we will go to a night of partying in the Emberá style and its ancestral dances, a very traditional form of the Emberás.

DAY 5 – Back to Panama City.


We continue our last day of tour starting at 06:00 a.m. having breakfast to get ready and to check at 07:00 am. the weather forecast and tide. At 07:30 a.m. We will travel by boat to Puerto Quimba arriving at 10:00 a.m. 30 minutes later we will board the next transportation to Metetí. Upon arrival, we will have lunch at noon Then at 13:00. We leave for Panama and end our adventure at 5:00 p.m. Arriving in Panama City.
